Thursday March 29th
I had a slow start this morning; it was raining lightly and my body thought I should just stay in bed and sleep today. We got rolling about 1130 and the rain had picked up by that time so I was kind of wet when we took off, although we didn’t unhook the trailer last night so getting started was quicker than normal – I could have gotten a lot wetter.
As soon as you leave Redding you start climbing and most of the drive from Redding to Medford was up and down and rain all the way. This is typically a very scenic drive but not much to see today because the clouds were hanging pretty low and it was snowing at the higher elevations. We made a stop in Mount Shasta so Cathey could go to the bathroom. She didn’t tell me that she was going to have breakfast there. She said she thought I would come in if she didn’t come back, but I was busy playing solitaire on my Kindle. She did bring me a giant bear claw pastry as a consolation.
So we got here about 430; I was a little disappointed that the campground is 10 miles N of Medford but the daily rate is only $20 so I guess we can afford a little gas. Unfortunately gas is more expensive here than it was in CA by about $.10 – the best price I have seen thus far is $4.39/gal.
So we are here and staged for the sisters convergence on Medford.
