Cloverdale Through the Napa Valley to West Sac

Tuesday December 18th
We were up early and found the laundromat right off but then went in search of the PO.  When we did finally find it (right behind the laundromat) Cathey discovered that she had forgotten one of the packages that she wanted to mail, so her brave Polack backtracked to the campsite to get the package.  By the time I returned the washing was done and I took over while she went to the PO.  Not too many English speakers in the laundromat except for the owner who came in to get the money.
By 12:30 we were packed and rolling down the hill in first gear because it was so steep.  We got back on US-101 and a few miles later turned off on CA-128 which took us over a divide to the Napa Valley and then turned down CA-29 to follow the Napa Valley down to Napa.  We are already used to seeing the rows and rows of grapevines but have lots of questions as to why some vines are at knee height and some at shoulder height and all levels in between.  The field workers are pruning the vines for next year's crop at this time of the year.
With the trailer we were not able to stop at any of the vineyards, so perhaps we will take a day trip here to learn more.
Once we were S of Napa we took CA-12 to it's junction with I-80 and then on to West Sacramento to our KOA home.  We got there about dark and got set up by the time it was dark, dark.  Rose has Thursday off so we will see her then; I offered to meet her for breakfast tomorrow before she goes to work at 11 but she said she would rather sleep; smart kid!
